The Chicago-based vocal – percussion duo of real-life partners Stephanie Alma and Tommy Carroll offer an emotionally wrenching sonic experience. “These are songs of survival and inner peace that have carried me through the streets of Chicago that I am now prepared to share with others, and especially disabled women of color,” Alma says. Carroll, who is known for his creative and emotional accompaniment of other Chicago acts and his own band Calculated Discomfort, provides a dynamic bed of percussive texture and rhythmic interplay with Alma’s vocals on a variety of drums and shakers. This is the first release published by the duo’s Elefantito Productions.
